Where it sits in the power path
Low-voltage switchboards and switchgear, and medium-voltage metal-clad switchgear, for service entrance and distribution.
Product lines
Low-voltage switchboards
Service entrance and distribution for commercial and residential buildings.
Low-voltage switchgear
Compartmentalized lineups with draw-out power circuit breakers for critical facilities.
Medium-voltage metal-clad switchgear
5 and 15 kV class lineups for campus distribution and utility interfaces.
Switchboard or switchgear?
| LV switchboard | LV switchgear | MV metal-clad switchgear | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Voltage | Up to 600 V | Up to 600 V | 5 to 38 kV class |
| Breakers | Moulded-case or insulated-case, usually fixed | Power circuit breakers, usually draw-out | Draw-out vacuum circuit breakers |
| Construction | Front-accessible options, fewer internal barriers | Barriers between breaker and bus compartments | Fully compartmentalized with grounded metal barriers |
| Typical use | Offices, retail, residential towers | Data centres, hospitals, industrial plants | Campuses, large plants, utility interconnections |
| Standards | CSA C22.2 No. 244 | CSA C22.2 No. 31 | CSA C22.2 No. 31, IEEE C37.20.2 |

Where it is used
Data centres
From utility service to the white space, where uptime and floor space both matter.
Industrial and mining
Rugged distribution for plants, mills and mine sites across Western Canada.
Commercial and high-rise residential
Service entrance to the top floor of towers, offices and mixed-use buildings.
Renewables and energy storage
Collection and interconnection equipment for solar, wind and battery projects.
Oil and gas
Distribution equipment for processing facilities, pipelines and compressor stations.
Questions
What should I include in a switchgear inquiry?
A single-line diagram is the most useful thing to send. Add the system voltage, available fault current, main and feeder breaker ratings, metering needs, and whether the lineup is indoor or outdoor.
Which standards apply in Canada?
Low-voltage switchboards are certified to CSA C22.2 No. 244 and low-voltage switchgear to CSA C22.2 No. 31. Medium-voltage metal-clad switchgear is built to CSA C22.2 No. 31 and the IEEE C37.20 series.
